"Forest Protection: Cleaning Up the CDM" is a brief political, economic and legal analysis of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) which emanates from Article 12 of the December 1997 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Kyoto Protocol Agreement. The CDM provides a new policy opportunity within the Kyoto Protocol which has the potential to mobilize financial support for tropical forest while effectively mitigating climate change. However, the CDM must be designed in a way which is responsive to the concerns of the global community. This Analysis looks closely at the issues surrounding the CDM in relation to forest preservation.
